Pizza has been regarded as the clear winner as the World’s most popular takeout of choice so sayeth Google search data. And why not? It travels well, is often budget-friendly and can be shared. Pizza proclaimed top honors in 44 countries, followed by Chinese in 29 countries and sushi ranked top in 10 countries.
Oddly enough, Chinese was dubbed America’s favorite. Can we get a recount? Pizza was No. 1 in Italy, of course, and much of Europe as well as Peru, Brazil, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Zambia and Indonesia, to name a few, finds a MoneyBeach report.
According to report methodology, “We used Google search data (searching all languages) to establish the average monthly search volume in each country for common search terms associated with ordering a takeaway, such as ‘pizza takeaway’, ‘pizza delivery’ and ‘pizza takeout’. The most searched for takeaway choice was then used as the top takeout cuisine for the specific country.”
