- Awards celebrate Anthony Mangieri of Una Pizza Napoletana as Pizza Icon for his relentless dedication.
- Floriana Pastore of Las Vegas-based Signora Pizza receives special honor for Best Street Pizza.
New York City is top location for best pizza makers in the U.S., according to Best Pizza Awards
Anthony Mangieri of New York City-based Una Pizza Napoletana and Dan Richer of Razza in New Jersey are among the world’s top 10 pizzaioli, according to The Best Pizza Awards held Wednesday evening at Studio Novanta in Milan, Italy. The U.S.-based duo rank No. 7 and No. 10, respectively, in the awards, which select the 100 top pizza makers from around the world.
“The Best Pizza Awards are built on credibility and chefs-first values,” says emcee and Milan-based actress and singer Federica Morra. “We gather for one night dedicated to a single, beautiful idea: legacy and future – honoring those who shape this craft and celebrating those who will redefine it.”
Pizza Icon Award: Anthony Mangieri of Una Pizza Napoletana
Mangieri receives special recognition as the 2026 Pizza Icon, with Morra calling his dedication “a near monastic devotion that took a craft, stripped to its essentials, all the way to the top of the world.”
Accepting the award, Mangieri – who makes a special appearance on the 300th episode of The Hot Slice podcast by Pizza Today – says, “If there is anything I have given to this craft or industry over 30 years, I hope it’s really just showing that dedicating your life to your work and really, really staying connected to the work every day has value.”
Best Street Pizza: Floriana Pastore of Signora Pizza
Floriana Pastore, owner of Las Vegas-based Signora Pizza is one of only two Americans to receive a special award during the ceremony: She wins the honor for Best Street Pizza over fellow pizzaioli from across the globe.
Presenting the honor, Morra calls Pastore “unmistakably authentic, impossible to ignore. A signora who brought a piece of Italy to the desert lights.” She adds that the awards are “judged by a global panel of culinary experts mirroring the standards of the Best Chef Awards – a fair, rigorous process that rewards true merit, authenticity, creativity and consistency.”
U.S.-based Winners
A total of 15 U.S. pizza makers are in the 2026 cadre of top pizzaioli on The Best Pizza Awards’ international stage. The list contains many names familiar to Pizza Today readers. The magazine selected Razza, for example, as the 2021 Pizzeria of the Year.
Wylie Dufresne of Stretch Pizza, meanwhile, gave a keynote at Pizza Expo 2026, where Giorgia Caporuscio of Don Antonio offered a demonstration with longtime Pizza Today and Pizza Expo advisor Tony Gemignani.
Chris Decker of Truly Pizza writes On Deck, a monthly column in the pages of Pizza Today magazine, which named Marisol Doyle a Pizza Trendsetter earlier this year.
