Donatos Pizza’s Tech-forward Mission with Jane Grote-Abell
Watching her father create a pepperoni slicer to meet his specifications, a young Jane Grote-Abell was instilled with the belief that technology should serve people and elevate quality. As the executive chairwoman of Donatos Pizza, Grote-Abell has continued the mission of leveraging technology to improve operations, freeing up staff time for hospitality.
Grote-Abell says Donatos is committed to embracing new ways to serve customers, such as AI-assisted phone ordering.
For her own role, Grote-Abell has adopted AI-driven forecasting and strengthened relationships with sister company Agápe Automation and technology partner Appetronix. Their innovations are on display at the John Glenn Columbus International Airport, where guests can watch precision robots assemble and bake Donatos pizzas to order inside a standalone kiosk in just six minutes.
“When you watch a pizza go from dough to box behind that glass, you’re seeing decades of believing that technology should serve people and elevate quality,” Grote-Abell says.
