The story of Vitelli Foods can be traced back to 1885. That year Luigi Vitelli emigrated from Italy into the United States of America from his native village of Torre del Greco, in the province of Naples. Italian immigrants in New York craved for some good pasta with San Marzano Tomatoes sauce. Luigi Vitelli saw an opportunity and he was probably the very first person to start importing canned Italian tomatoes to the US. Over the years the business grew bigger and bigger. The Vitelli family gradually expanded the line of products to include pasta, beans and other Italian specialties. Today’s Vitelli is quite different from the Vitelli of 1885 when it served the growing Italian immigrant community in the five boroughs of New York City. Today, products imported by Vitelli can be found in major supermarket chains and distributors throughout the United States. The company is still managed by a member of the Vitelli family, Claudia Vitelli.
Steeped in tradition, the Vitelli name stands for quality without compromise, bringing pasta and tomatoes made with the finest Italian ingredients to America for more than a century. We make our pasta in several different varieties and we offer Organic Whole Wheat, Gluten Free and Artisanal Pasta to suit all tastes and dietary needs. We also offer specialty tomato products like DOP San Marzano and Piennolo del Vesuvio tomatoes. We import fresh DOP mozzarella di bufala and ship to distributors throughout the United States and we represent the offices of Golfera Italian Charcuterie managing the sales to distributors for the US market. When it comes to Italian Food Vitelli is your specialist! Since 1885!
