Last night in New York City, Scott Wiener presented the Top50 Pizza awards ceremony honoring America’s best pizzerias. We’re excited to newcomers to this year’s list, like A Modo Mio in Arlington, Virginia, Audace in New York and Hapa Pizza – Beaverton, Oregon.

American Chefs among winners at Best Pizza Awards in Milan, Italy
On June 25, pizza chefs from around the world gathered in Milan to be recognized at the Best Pizza Awards. American chefs were among those celebrated.

Food & Wine releases its ‘10 Must-Visit Pizzerias in the United States’
Food & Wine share its list of “most compelling pizza destinations that you should add to your bucket list.” The article was part of the the magazine’s 2025 Global Tastemakers.
While several of the top spots were expected, we see new national frontrunners entering this best pizza list, like:

No. 3 — Bungalow by Middle Brow, a tavern-style spot in Chicago

No. 7 — Quarter Sheets serving up multiple styles in L.A.

No. 9 — Rose Pizzeria with its artisan pizza in Berkeley, California.

The Country That Eats The Most Pizza Isn’t Italy Or The US
Yes, Italy is the birthplace of pizza and the U.S. has made pizza its own. But neither holds to title of the country that eats the most pizza. That honor goes to Norway, according to World Population Review, the average Norwegians eat over 25 pounds of pizza each year. Comparing that staggering statistic, Americans average 23 pounds of pizza found in the Tasting Table article. Rounding out the Top 5 countries that eat the most pizza are Canada, Australia and Italy, respectively.

New Hampshire named “Best Pizza State”?
The best state for pizza isn’t New York or Chicago. It’s New Hampshire, according to a Maine Lobster Now study. Ohio and Delaware rounded out the Top 3.Travel & Leisure announced the findings in April. The study’s methodology included analyzing the number of pizzerias per 100,000 residents and interest in pizza—using Google searches and the average price of pizza in each state.

U.S. Pizzerias Among TimeOut’s 19 Best Pizzas in the World
Pizzerias in the U.S. made a strong showing TimeOut’s list of best pizzas in the world. Scarr’s Pizza in New York ranked No. 2. Chicago-based Milly’s Pizza in a Pan grabbed the no. 11 spot and Eleventh Street Pizza in Miami ranked 14th. Check out the full list of TimeOut’s 19 Best Pizzas in the World.

Pizzerias and Pizzaiolos Among 2025 James Beard Awards Semifinalists
Pizza makers from Alabama to Alaska are among the semifinalists selected by the James Beard Foundation to celebrate the best chefs and restaurants in the United States. Pizzeria owners including the Stayer family (Texas) and restaurant groups MIDA (Boston), McNellie’s (Oklahoma) and Niche Food Group (Missouri) are on the short list in the Outstanding Restauranteur category.
The foundation tapped Pizza Expo speaker Sarah Minnick (Oregon) as a semifinalist for Outstanding Chef, while Dan Richer (New Jersey), Robert Andreozzi (Rhode Island), Beau Schooler (Alaska) and Michael Vakneen (Nevada) are semifinalists in the Best Chef category.

Knoxville, Tennessee’s A Dopo named to USA Today’s Restaurants of the Year for 2025
A Dopo in Knoxville, Tennessee is the sole pizzeria to be named in USA Today’s list of Restaurants of the Year for 2025. The listing touted it as a “local culinary gem that elevates the concept of sourdough pizza to a dinner-only delicacy.” The listing made special note of A Dopo’s truffle pie (a 15″ naturally leavened pizza topped with aged mozzarella, white truffle oil, speck ham, mushrooms, chives & finished with fig jam) and its small-batch gelato. Pizzerias highlighted in Yelp’s Top 100 US Restaurants 2025
In Yelp’s Top 100 US Restaurants of 2025, the review site is counting down the best restaurants in the the restaurant category, including all cuisines. Here is how Yelp comes up with the list: ” To determine Yelp’s Top 100 Places to Eat in 2025, Yelp’s data science team starts by using the data generated from our community submissions. We considered both the rating and the volume of the reviews, while accounting for the overall restaurant activity in each business’s area. From the candidate restaurants, we narrowed the list down with the expertise of our community managers and Trend Expert to curate a list as quirky, interesting, and unique as the Yelp community itself.”
